Privacy Policy
Effective October 16, 2026 · Interlay Software LLC
ServiceComply is a product of Interlay Software LLC ("we", "us"). This policy covers three things: this website, the ServiceComply office portal, and the ServiceComply field mobile app. The short version: we collect what the product needs to run your backflow testing operation, your company owns its data, and we do not sell data to anyone.
The website
If you request early access, we collect the email address you give us and use it for one purpose: contacting you about ServiceComply access. The website does not use advertising trackers and does not sell or share your email with third parties for marketing.
The ServiceComply platform
The office portal and field app process data on behalf of the backflow testing company that holds the account (our customer). If you are a technician or office member, your company is the owner of this data and controls who can see it.
Account information
- Name and email address, used to sign in and to show who did what.
- Company (organization) membership and permissions, such as whether you can perform field work.
Business and compliance records
- Customers, job sites, and backflow assembly details, including their physical addresses.
- Test readings, repairs, tester certification and gauge details, and the compliance reports generated from them.
Photos and camera
The field app uses the camera so technicians can photograph backflow assemblies, serial number tags, and repair evidence. Photos are attached to the job record and synced to your company's account. The app only takes a photo when the technician taps to take one.
Location
The field app uses precise location for two things: capturing the coordinates of a backflow assembly, so the device can be found again on future visits, and centering the map on the technician's own position while they work. Captured coordinates belong to the assembly and are saved to the job record. The app does not track technicians in the background and does not collect location continuously.
Data on your phone
Job data is stored on the technician's phone so testing works offline, and syncs to your company's account when a connection is available. A sync notification may be shown while this happens. Signing out of a device is controlled by the technician and their company.
Crash and error diagnostics
When the office portal, the field app, or our servers hit an error or crash, we collect a diagnostic report so we can find and fix the problem. We use Sentry, a third-party error monitoring service, to receive and store these reports. See Sentry's privacy policy.
- What a report contains: the error message and technical stack trace, the app or server version and environment, the device and operating system type for the field app, and a short trail of what the app was doing just before the problem.
- Who it is linked to: reports are tagged with your internal user ID and your company's organization ID so we can investigate a specific problem. In the office portal, reports are also tagged with your sign-in email address.
- What we turn off: we do not record screenshots, session replays, or request and response bodies, and we do not use these reports for advertising or tracking across other apps and websites.
- The field app also sends basic session information, such as whether a session ended normally or in a crash, so we can measure app stability.
Diagnostic reports are used only to operate, debug, and improve ServiceComply. Because reports are generated automatically, they can occasionally capture details from the screen or data being processed at the moment of an error. Reports are kept by Sentry for as long as our Sentry account's retention settings provide, and are not a source of business records.
How we use data
- To run the service: scheduling, field testing, review, and report generation.
- To keep the service reliable by detecting, diagnosing, and fixing errors and crashes.
- To generate the compliance reports your company submits to water districts and cities. ServiceComply does not send reports to authorities itself at this time; your company stays in control of delivery.
- To communicate about the service: access, support, and important changes.
We do not sell personal data, we do not use your data for advertising, and we do not routinely share your business records with third parties.
Service providers
We run ServiceComply on established infrastructure providers that store data on our behalf: application hosting and databases, cloud file storage for photos and generated reports, an email delivery service for messages like sign-in and access emails, and an error monitoring service (Sentry) for crash and error diagnostics. These providers process data only to provide their service to us.
Security and retention
Data moves between the app, the portal, and our servers over encrypted connections (HTTPS). Access is scoped per company: members of one company cannot see another company's records.
We keep your company's records for as long as the account is active. Backflow compliance is a multi-year record-keeping business, so we do not auto-delete test history. Your company can request a full export of its data, and can ask us to delete its account and records.
Your choices
- Location permission can be denied or revoked in your phone's settings, which turns off coordinate capture and map centering. Photos are taken through your phone's camera only when you choose to take one.
- Companies can request an export or deletion of their data by contacting us.
- Individuals can ask us what we hold about them and ask for corrections. To have your company-managed account removed or deleted, contact your company's ServiceComply administrator. See Account deletion for details and help if you can't reach your company.
Account deletion
ServiceComply accounts are provided by your employer. Your company manages your account and the business records created with it. To have your account removed or deleted, contact your company's ServiceComply administrator (an owner or admin of your organization).
If you can't reach your company, for example because you no longer work there, email privacy@servicecomply.com from the address on your account. We will pass your request to your company, which decides how to handle it.
Compliance records you created, including test reports, work orders, and signatures, are your company's business records and are kept under its retention obligations.
Children
ServiceComply is a business tool for backflow testing companies and is not directed at children under 13.
